Installation Guidelines
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you in your home! We want you to be pleased with your materials and workmanship, with this in mind here are some things that you need to know to prepare for your installation.
FURNITURE: All furniture must be removed where installation is to be done. We realize that you may want Jabara’s to do the moving, and we can accommodate your moving needs; however, we do charge depending on the contents.
ROOM PREPERATION
- Have each room ready for installation by having all small items (boxes, clothing, books, trash cans, and misc. items) picked up off of the floor and out of the installation area.
- Remove all valuables, lamps, plants and knick-knacks.
- Remove dishes and crystals from hutch cabinets and all books from bookshelves.
- Remove all electronics from entertainment units, and disassemble large entertainment units.
- Computers must be disconnected and removed from the installation area.
- Strip bed linens if bedroom is being installed, waterbeds must be drained and dissembled.
- Remove perfumes and cosmetics from all dresser tops.
- Remove shoes and misc. items from closet floors.
ITEMS WE CAN NOT MOVE: There are certain items that Jabara’s will not be responsible for moving. You will need to move the following items or make arrangements to have them moved prior to installation. This is for your protection as well as ours.
- Antiques
- Collectibles
- Grand pianos and large organs
- Slate pool tables
- Grandfather clocks
DOORS: With installation of some floors, there is the possibility that your doors may not clear or swing free. We will remove doors for the installation and rehang them if possible. We will not shave or cut them down. We would like to accommodate you but it is a job for a trained carpenter, not a floor covering mechanic.
KITCHEN INSTALLATIONS: Gas ranges and icemakers on refrigerators must be disconnected and reconnected by a licensed plumber or by the homeowner.
MOLDINGS AND TRIM: If quarter round or wall base needs to be removed for a proper installation, we will remove and replace them for you at your request. We can not however, guarantee that these moldings will not chip, scratch, or break during this process.
UNFORSEEN PROBLEMS: Occasionally we find some unknown problems that could not be seen at the time of measuring. These are most commonly a damaged sub-floor or one that does not meet the flooring manufacture’s specifications for a proper installation. In these instances, you, the installer, and Jabara’s must approve repairs or changes. Any additional charges will be your responsibility.
CLEANING UP: We will vacuum and dispose of all waste material before leaving the job site. Old carpet will be disposed of unless other arrangements are made.
Our customers are the reason we are in business. We appreciate your decision to allow us to serve you and sincerely hope that you will get many years of enjoyment from your new floor covering.
