If you are in the market to buy carpet, here is a quick guide to help you select the best carpet style for your project:

Textured

One of the most popular carpet styles, textured carpet is great if you are looking for a casual style and appearance.  The nature of texture carpet creates a two-toned appearance. This allows textured carpet to hide footprints and vacuum marks easily. Available in a broad range of prices, textured carpet is great for active families and places of high foot-traffic.

Saxony/Plush

A more formal carpet styles is Saxony or plush. This style creates an elegant and traditional look. A Saxony or plush carpet style has a soft and luxurious feel to it. This makes plush carpet a great choice for a master bedroom, formal dining room, or reading den. You should not use Saxony carpet in an area that gets high foot traffic. This style of carpet does show footprints very easily.

Frieze

If you are looking for a carpet for an active area of your home, frieze carpet may be the best option. The textured surface of the frieze carpet style has a knobby-appearance, which lends itself to the styles’ high durability. Perfect for high traffic areas of your home, frieze carpet comes in a number of different heights and appearances, depending on your need.

Cable

While not recommended for high traffic areas, cable carpet does have its uses. Cable carpet is best suited for use

Looped

The carpet is not only durable, but also typically has a long lifespan. Looped carpet is also versatile and can be used in a number of different applications throughout the home.

Cut & Loop

Cut and loop or patterned carpet is another great carpet style option for your home. Due to the low profile nature of the carpet style, cut and loop carpets tend to handle high traffic areas well. Increasingly popular these days, cut and loop carpet is great for traditional spaces like family rooms and dining rooms. An added bonus of using a cut and loop carpet style is that they tend to hide stains well.
